        "body": "<p><strong>WHAT HAPPENED</strong></p><p>PARIS – <a class=\"participant\" href=\"/ENG/OG2024/bios/1923629\" target=\"_blank\" data-id=\"30764\">Tommy FLEETWOOD</a> <a class=\"noc\" href=\"/ENG/OG2024/profilebynoc/GBR\" target=\"_blank\" data-id=\"1240\">(GBR)</a> put himself in contention for the biggest victory of his career as he drew on fond memories to card a seven-under-par 64 in his second round on Friday, despite not feeling he was at his best.</p><p>The Briton, star of the show when Le Golf National hosted the Ryder Cup in 2018, was particularly delighted with his short game as he joined <a class=\"participant\" href=\"/ENG/OG2024/bios/1951723\" target=\"_blank\" data-id=\"33318\">Xander SCHAUFFELE</a> <a class=\"noc\" href=\"/ENG/OG2024/profilebynoc/USA\" target=\"_blank\" data-id=\"1377\">(USA)</a> and <a class=\"participant\" href=\"/ENG/OG2024/bios/1961406\" target=\"_blank\" data-id=\"34253\">Hideki MATSUYAMA </a><a class=\"noc\" href=\"/ENG/OG2024/profilebynoc/JPN\" target=\"_blank\" data-id=\"1271\">(JPN)</a> at the top of the leaderboard at the halfway stage of the men’s Olympic golf tournament.</p><p>Unlike his co-leaders, FLEETWOOD is yet to win a Major, and while he knows that he cannot rely on past Paris form to deliver an Olympic title, he is certain “you're always better off coming to a course where you have good feelings and good things have happened”.</p><p><a class=\"noc\" href=\"/ENG/OG2024/profilebynoc/ESP\" target=\"_blank\" data-id=\"1229\">Spain</a>’s <a class=\"participant\" href=\"/ENG/OG2024/bios/1898582\" target=\"_blank\" data-id=\"28625\">Jon RAHM</a> knows how to win almost everywhere and the two-time Major champion is two shots back after adding a 66 to his opening 67 while <a class=\"participant\" href=\"/ENG/OG2024/bios/1903185\" target=\"_blank\" data-id=\"29113\">Thomas DETRY</a> <a class=\"noc\" href=\"/ENG/OG2024/profilebynoc/BEL\" target=\"_blank\" data-id=\"1185\">(BEL)</a>, a World Cup winner in 2018, produced the round of the day.
