        "body": "<p dir=\"ltr\">PARIS - A statistical look at golf, which begins on Thursday 1 August.</p><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>1900</strong> - The year golf made its debut at the Olympic Games, at the Compiegne Club, north of Paris.</p><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>112&nbsp;</strong>- Golf's absence in years from the Olympic Games after St Louis 1904, ended when Adilson DA SILVA (BRA) hit the opening tee shot of the men's individual stroke play at Rio 2016.</p><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>62</strong> - The record score for a single 18-hole round for a woman in the Olympic Games, by Maria VERCHENOVA (RUS) in the final round at Rio 2016 and <a class=\"participant\" href=\"/ENG/OG2024/bios/1951716\" target=\"_blank\" data-id=\"33316\">Nelly KORDA</a> <a class=\"noc\" href=\"/ENG/OG2024/profilebynoc/USA\" target=\"_blank\" data-id=\"1377\">(USA)</a> in the second round at Tokyo 2020. In 1900 the women played a nine-hole course and the winning score was 47.</p><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>61 -&nbsp;</strong>The record score for a single round for a man in the Olympic Games, by Rory SABBATINI (SVK) in the final round at Tokyo 2020, claiming the silver medal.</p><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>50</strong> - The age of John RAHM (<a href=\"https://bsl-mnf-og20d.mev.atos.net/info-live-results/en/results/all-sports/noc-profile-united-states.htm\"><u>USA</u></a>) - not to be confused with current top golfer <a class=\"participant\" href=\"/ENG/OG2024/bios/1898582\" target=\"_blank\" data-id=\"28625\">Jon RAHM</a> <a class=\"noc\" href=\"/ENG/OG2024/profilebynoc/ESP\" target=\"_blank\" data-id=\"1229\">(ESP)</a> - when he became the oldest medallist in golf at the Olympic Games. He claimed a bronze medal in the men's team at St Louis 1904.</p><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>41</strong> - Golfers from 41 different NOCs competed at Rio 2016. The previous occasion golf was included in the Olympic Games in 1904, only USA and Canada were represented.</p><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>30</strong> - At Rio 2016, all medallists in the women's individual stroke play were under the age of 30 and all medallists in the men's individual stroke play were over the age of 30.</p><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>28</strong> - Inbee PARK (KOR) was 28 years and 39 days when she won gold at Rio 2016, the oldest female Olympic golf champion.</p><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>11</strong> - <a class=\"noc\" href=\"/ENG/OG2024/profilebynoc/USA\" target=\"_blank\" data-id=\"1377\">USA</a> has claimed 11 of the 25 medals awarded in golf at the Olympic Games.</p><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>5</strong> - The number of holes in one at Rio 2016.<strong>&nbsp;</strong>The first of those was by Justin ROSE (<a href=\"https://bsl-mnf-og20d.mev.atos.net/info-live-results/en/results/all-sports/noc-profile-great-britain.htm\"><u>GBR</u></a>) on his way to winning a gold medal in the men's stroke play in 2016.&nbsp;</p><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>1</strong> - The first female representing the United States to win an Olympic gold medal in any sport was Margaret ABBOTT (USA), who won the women's individual stroke play at the Olympic Games Paris 1900.
